UK GDPR – a possible new direction for data and what it means for councils

Summary of the recent government consultation on the future direction of data protection in the UK

The government has now concluded its much-anticipated consultation on possible changes to GDPR in the UK. Our Head of Data Protection Services, Darren Briddock, has been wading through the consultation and provides a summary of what’s being proposed.

Darren has produced a briefing video, as well as an in-depth briefing document, both of which are set out below. If you have any questions, please email us or call us on 01273 282111. We will keep our subscriber councils up to date as the consultation progresses and advise which, if any, parts of the consultation are due be put forward to become primary legislation and what that may then mean for individual councils.
